What are Ice Shows?
Ice shows are an entertainment production which is performed by figure skaters. Some ice shows have skaters who dance. But, a lot of ice shows are a musical that tells a story. Normally, there are main characters. Kind of like the main characters of a play. Ice shows are nothing like competitions though. There aren’t judges and shows are specifically for your entertainment. So, it's just for fun and you don't have to worry about points or anything like that. Although, you still need a costume for show.
Ice Dancing
Ice Dancing is a part of competitions, but it can also be performed in a show. Normally, there is a couple that dances together, with a man and a woman. In the show, the man will lift the woman and hold her in the air a lot. Another thing they will do is hold hands and skate together. The costumes of the partners do not have to match and they shouldn't clash with the music. The men normally wear black skates and the women wear white skates.
Synchronized Skating
Synchronized skating consists of 8-20 skaters on the ice all at one time. All of these skaters move at the same time, fast and flowing. It takes a lot of practice to do this because everyone has to be on time with each other and in sync. If they decide to spin in their routine, all of the skaters have to be on time with the rotation and have to have the same number of revolutions. Normally, they form in a line or an intersection at some point while they’re skating. So, as you can see it’s very hard because every skater has to be on time with everyone else. But, once you practice it and get it right, it looks awesome when you watch it.
